Yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] anngwish42 because I could use chatting with people today...

Ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that could be obvious, but you have no idea about.

Then post this in your own LJ and find out what people don't know about you. (edit: or don't, you know I won't check...)

Is there anything I haven't blathered about yet?

What did you do, career-wise, before you started staying home with K?

hehe... Well not a heck of a lot :) I hadn't decided for sure what I wanted to be when I grew up! LOL

If we work backwards, right before I had K I was working as a kind of administrative assistant for a department somewhere within Microsoft. Prior to that I had worked for my vet for a bunch of months. That was actually something I really enjoyed, and am thinking of doing something like it again, but the problem was that the vet himself was a complete.... well jerk doesn't do it justice, but bastard isn't the right word either :) He's loud and angry, but just because HE needs neutering.

Before that I had been doing more admin stuff which was just a way to pass the time after I quit working at AT&T Wireless Services on their customer torture, I mean service line... I was one of the ones who tried to actually HELP customers, and I hated it there so I was only there about a year.

And for about 10 years before that in all sorts of places all over the US I worked as a photo-processing tech. This is actually the other thing I think of returning to because I like photos, but not so much as to make a big art thing out of it. I like photos and helping people with theirs less than I like trying to make a business of taking my own photos for cash. I like to take my own photos for ME and then help myself with them ;) These days I know too much and ask for too much money though so I would probably return to that industry in a photo restoration or more pro-lab capacity. I feel oogy about choosing that as a career though sometimes for environmental reasons.

In the background of all this I went to college to "learn" to write. I haven't managed to build the proper amount of courage to pursue anything of that nature for cash though. I can take rejection and move on, but I lose steam anyway. I think I also figured out something really silly about some writer's block I've been having for a number of years now- a thing about my mom accusing me of never finishing anything and a novel I was working on a long time ago that I probably never should have attempted. If I can dump that thing out the window I might try to go back to writing as well. It's such a hard way to make bank though, I still feel the need for a "day job" since I'm not the next Harlan Ellison, no matter how much I might like that to be that :)

I've also worked as a popcorn concession person at an artsy movie theater, and a janitor at my college for a summer which had me doing occasional maid work on my own later- I really can clean OTHER people's stuff :) Oh, and I also have be threatening to start selling stuff I knit for years now, but so far I think I've sold 2 hats. yippee. And I've also worked at Radio Shack very briefly- that was painful. :) I can't sell things.
