Marines, we are NOT leaving...
Jun. 12th, 2004 09:09 amJust a quick update: To everyone I told we'd be gone this weekend, we're not. My head is still sufficiently full of phlegm that we decided that it'd be stupid to drive a really long distance for what will probably be an incredibly brief visit anyway. We're putting it off until Friday when hopefully I will be all the way better, and also less likely to infect the person we're going to see. Considering that it's UC5's 90 year old grandmother who broke her hip, that's probably for the best.
Anyone have any recommendations about having digital photos printed by a "place"? Our printer is totally cocked up so we have to get some things printed for Nana, but I don't know where to go and what to avoid once I get there- an interesting position for one like me to be in, having spent as long in photo processing as I did :P Apples and oranges they are though- film and digital, so I shouldn't be embarrassed, but I am.

Date: 2004-06-12 07:49 am (UTC)As for Black's, yes, we used Black's to get the wedding photos we put in our thank you cards. I have to admit I wasn't that impressed with them. It could have just been the location. If that's the case, don't go to the one in the Beach. ;) The owner was one of those nasty bitches who treat their employees like dirt, but kiss up to the customers. That was also four years ago, so a lot might have changed.
I think Walmart has new Kodak kiosks that just require the memory card from the camera. That might be an option. Of course, I wouldn't want to go to Walmart on a Saturday. Way too crowded. :p

Date: 2004-06-12 09:01 pm (UTC)I see those machines to print digital photos all over. Heard to imagine their results are anything but a commodity. (Although I don't know about quality of paper/ink.)

Date: 2004-06-13 06:14 am (UTC)If you check my userpics you will find that I give you credit at least! So can I keep it? :):) I promise never to use it in YOUR journal since that would indeed be a little freaky. :) You can steal my Bill "un oh" face if you want :)
As for those places- I need to find one that will let me either use my memory chip as the source, or has a site that photos can be uploaded to because one of the many things we don't have to make our computer complete (piece of...) is a CD Burner. I think I will manage though- lots of places around here that I think can use the chip. *crosses fingers*

Date: 2004-06-13 09:49 am (UTC)I've noticed some of the machines (without looking closely) allow you to bring in your card/chip and print from that. There are also online sites which escape my fuzzy mind, but I like immediate gratification anyway. Besides, trying to upload a few hundred megabytes of data online? Ugh.
