I just figured out another would-be easy to figure out word that K's been using- "Happa" seems to be "Happen" as in "What happened?!" which is a phrase we use an awful lot (like any time we enter the room when crying was the reason- more than 20 times a day!)

Makes me sad though- I thought he was saying "happy" :( Sometimes that might be what it is, but since every time we used to say "happy?" to him he'd scream at us like we were wrong, I am betting it was a question...

Learning to talk was not like this for me, I don't remember having to try at all, it just happened. K is pretty frustrated though, poor dude.

have you tried baby signs? probably wouldn't be too helpful with abstracts such as "happy", but I do know of several infants that became a lot less frustrated when they could make their needs/wants known with more clarity than through verbalizing...just a thought!
(and sorry I never replied to your helpful, thoughtful response to my would-be-adoption rant...I *did* write a long reply that was accidentally deleted before I could post...and then I was too frustrated to re-type it...more on that later!)
