I was going to ramble about a bunch of things that could all be shortened to a sentence or so, so have some bullet points for once..

- Shopping at the farmer's market for veggies today. Need to not spend all my money, even though tomatoes are starting to look very tasty and good. I will scream if they go out of season before we get properly paid.

- Froze lots of the blueberries that were just in season. Ate a ton too. They were yummy!

- If I am going to have this many fruit flies, I need to get a pet that will kill them because constant needs for traps become a stinky pain. A shame I would likely kill a carnivorous plant.

- Need to address treating our hard water issue. I hope it does not turn out to be more than we can afford, because I will be sad if I kill my fish, and I definitely can't afford keeping them in bottled water. Advice would be appreciated.

- Feeling pretty good this week, despite it being that time in my menstrual cycle when I am usually full of rage, or laying about as if dead. Can't say it was great because there were still a couple of really bad brain days in there, but yeah, not as bad. That's something, right? I credit fruit, again.

- Potty training is not working so much, in fact, I'd have to say it's kicking our ass. They don't make pull-ups any bigger, and he's starting to spring leaks when he holds it too long. ACK.

- Eating lately is chicken and waffles, which while amusing because it has me singing the little fake ad song from Tapeheads, is still not being a big help with the above issue. At least the waffles are the high fiber kind. More ACK.

- I spend too much time noodling on here in the morning and not saying much, or trying too hard to say less. I'm broken about how to talk about anything anymore, but I'm working on it. Crash has been giving me projects! :)

- yep, going now! BYE! *waves*

We have very hard water here, too. If you saw a few days ago I made a post about losing all my fish. I was advised to put aquarium salt into the tank, and so far it's worked. Maybe that will work for you?

KW has awfully hard water. And it seems to differ from one neighbourhood to another. It took me a while to get used to, same for our fish.

When we moved here (from the states) our fish (all little danios and a few loaches) were a bit unhappy, but most survived the first months. Our house has a house water-softener in the basement (nearly all in KW do; I 'spect you have one too, since otherwise your pipes are otherwise probably toast.)

The only real change we made was adding a few extra drops of water conditioner per gallon of water, when we changed the fish water.

I'd never heard of aquarium salt; I'm guessing it's if you don't soften the water for the entire house?

I've been a serious goob and failed to set up my tanks right away. Good point about the salt though, since I could be adding that to bowl water too, and it would make things a little nicer for them. :)

Tomatoes should be good for a while - I usually buy my romas in mid to late September to make my tomato sauce...

That ad for Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in Tapeheads is actually for a real restaurant chain in LA. I've been to two locations of it.

I actually did know about Roscoe's being real. I even went to this site looking for the song the other day because I've had it stuck in my head for weeks now! :)

Sadly they don't seem to refer to the movie or the song on their site, probably because Roscoe who sings the song in the ad isn't the real Roscoe.. Anyway.. I did know that, but called it the fake ad because I saw so many other sites refer to it that way. Didn't mean to imply Roscoe's isn't a real place. Is it good food?? I've been curious since K's developed his little thing for them.

My fish (as well as all the fish on the farm) all live in florida-hard water and they're fine. It'll leave crusty crap on the glass, but won't really hurt the fish, unless you have something that's very pH-sensitive (discus, etc).
