Note to spouses everywhere: Having a bad memory but being generally apologetic and polite does not give you license to put off simple tasks until you're at the critical moment, then try to off-handedly pass the task back over to the asking spouse, just because the task is simple and will only take five minutes. The five minutes it will take your spouse to do the thing they asked you for will not make up for the eleven million times you were asked, and the hours of ignoring and huffiness you will have to endure until you do something really awesome to make up for it. Trust me on this. You can't afford it.
