The non-fish update.. State of the hippy.
Mar. 15th, 2006 10:40 amHad a great time with
tornattheelbo and Aaron on Monday when they came over and stayed for dinner. Played lots of PS2, and the kids watched some Blues Clues and wrestled a lot, and Aaron drew a picture of the two of them, which I put up on the fridge. I felt great! Then I woke up yesterday feeling like someone had replaced my brain with a big fluffy pair of wool socks, which were trying to explode out of my ears.
Today I still can't hear all that well, and it's starting to really piss me off. I had wall-to-wall ear infections as a kid, so nothing can get me super-pissed like having that feeling I am getting one. I want to turn the oven on, and stick my head in (it's NOT GAS, sillies), and let the heat try to evaporate my brain and anything else liquid in there, just to relieve the pressure. We HATES the ear infections... Hates them.
I did spend a lot of yesterday looking over the classifieds for housing down in Waterloo, and eventually became overwhelmed by it. I didn't find a lot of detached houses for rent that allowed pets, but oh the quantity of town-housey-condo-duplexy things is just incredible and huge... I eventually concluded that giving up for the moment, and just going gang busters on it next week after I've had another chance to physically get to town and see the place, and narrow myself down to a couple areas would be best- Otherwise I will surely spend WAY too much time on the phone with random landlords in places I will not want to live. Crash seems to think that he might have his new workdoorstop laptop actually functioning by Friday, so we've been discussing getting a car for the weekend. I was less fond of trying to do weekend searching, just because having the kiddo along sucks out about 1/3 of my brain capacity just by default, but if it has to happen that way, it just has to. I might try to push it back out to next Tuesday though, if it can be, since it makes a little more sense in my world.
I must try to get back into packing today. I got a call from the landlord, and they want to come again tomorrow and measure the floor- GET THIS!! The fuckers are having laminate floor installed after we go... I actually could NOT resist the need to say openly that I SERIOUSLY wish they had thought to do that before WE moved in, since YEAH, FUCKING HATE CARPET! *seriousgrowlygrumbles* Okay. Tangent over. But that being said, can I just mention how tempted I've been by some of the "rent to own" ads I've seen?? I am sure they are likely a really bad idea, especially since a lot of them say things like "no credit, bad credit OK!" and stuff that usually means they come along with an interest rate high enough to guarantee you will be paying it for the rest of your natural life, but still... SO SICK of having that landlord that WON'T do a thing for you, but WILL do it right after you leave..... TWICE now..... And always about carpet. I am the dream tennant, would do the installation MYSELF if they would just let me, even SAID SO, but no... *seethe* And you know who I want to blame, right? Right?? ;)
Enough bitching, off I go, hopefully to a bigger, better, non-carpeted place. :P
