First things first- I am sure you're all burning to know what the landlords said. They were unsurprised by any of the damage I'd done, sine I'd told them about it ages ago. A lot of the less noticeable damage I worried was the tub leaking turned out to be old news. The big thing, the bedroom window, was the part that I think made her feel the worst. I told her the whole long story of not noticing it was missing the bottom panes until the depth of winter when I caught the cat climbing around in it, having ripped through the plastic that used to keep it sealed, then basically sealing the opening with a thick layer of styrofoam that I think came with K's bed, and then put a blanket and a curtain over it, thus converting it to a wall. I mentioned it to her before last summer, but they never got around to doing anything about it, so I just left it that way. I doubt a window would have been any warmer, and the darkness being in the bedroom has never bothered me, but yeah, it would've been nice to ever have natural light in here, ya know, so I coulda maybe had a plant :P

In the end she kept saying over and over that if we need any help I should feel free to ask, and she was also full of housing suggestions for the Waterloo area (they live in Stratford, and end up there a lot apparently), and they were very friendly, and also eating a bit of shit themselves because they forgot to ask their bank to NOT cash the March rent check from the bunch we'd given them months ago because they'd made us pay with a separate certified check, in advance, when the February check bounced, essentially double-billing us for March. They gave us our rent money back, and thanked us again for taking such good care of the place, and one more chorus of, "let us know if you need anything". heh.

So anyway, the other thing- I was pissed at this guest on the Today show that was part of that movement of men who want a law put in place saying that they don't have to take responsibility for children they say they were "duped" into conceiving, thereby being able to assert the right to be a dead beat, and possibly even to force women to put their children up for adoption rather than be able to ask them for money, because, ya know, taking responsibility for the possibility of having children BEFORE having sex is SO HARD, what with the having to tell women you don't want to have any children, and the having to wear protection and stuff... I have some words for these men- Yes, some women sometimes lie about their fertility, so that's why you should ALWAYS wear protection, AND remember that even protection is only that- PROTECTION. There is no place on the condom wrapper where it says "NO SPAWN OR WE'LL GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY BACK!!" Fuckers. If you really 100% don't want children, there's only 2 ways to prevent it. KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS, OR GO GET YOURSELF NEUTERED. If you weren't smart enough to do any of the above, then I am sorry, you get to pay, just like us. I am sure the woman is no happier to be stuck with your ass than you are to be stuck being a dad, so grow up. What you're proposing sounds like trying to pass a law against you needing car insurance because you don't think you're ever going to have an accident. Puh-leease!

Edit: I should note, for those of you who don't know me all that well, that yeah, that rant definitely comes from a personal place- Divorced parents, dead beat-ish, non-parental sperm donor. I just feel a law like this would open the door for all kinds of "excuses" to be used to further control the reproductive choices of women. I can't be a woman without feeling that is highly uncool.

Oh god i was reading about that the other day. GAWD some people are just monumentally stupid, huh? I am hoping and praying that this doesn't go anywhere. Though, given the current state of affairs in the western world, i'm not holding my breath.

...but i am thinking of moving to sweden.
