My son is 1034 days old today, and probably for the last 705 I have been waiting quite impatiently to hear one beautiful word... (editorial note- originally my figure was off by a year, so don't trust my math LOL)
Today at random, and only once the magic word was heard. It wasn't directed at me, only repeated, though most likely for my benefit, but still it was unmistakably clear.
We were lying on the couch playing at inhaling and exhaling in each other's faces, and he said his mumbley thing that means to stop, so I repeated, "Stop it, Mommy!" as if mimicking what he meant to say and then it happened...
"Mommy?" he replied...
I gasped, I almost choked on my tongue. "yes?" I answered.
Silence, but there was this undeniable smirk on his face even though he wasn't meeting my eye. I told him I heard him and that I loved hearing him say it, and I loved him for saying it, and I invited him to say it continuously for all I cared since it was the best thing I ever heard, but he didn't, oh well...
Excuse me while I go do the happy dance now.

Date: 2004-03-10 11:24 pm (UTC)P.S. from the "you know you're a mom when..." department: I read your moods and music. When I got to the music part (cause they're whose clues?), my brain screamed back, in a chorus of children's voices "BLUES CLUES!!!"
Egad.
