Crichton is still alive, has started eating again, and seems a bit better. He's going to lose a bunch of his tail, and until he does he's still having a hard time moving. I'm changing out as much of his water as I can without netting him to reduce stress, and I think that's helping. It's kinda creepy though. Well, maybe creepy is an understatement. Does anyone but me remember those fortune telling fish that you put in the palm of your hand to predict your future? Crichton's been resembling one, spending all his time on his side with his head elevated as if predicting jealousy.. *shudder* I really worry he's got some kind of neural damage, or something else that's keeping him from being able to stay upright and steady. I hope this changes after he loses more of the dead part of his tail.

Urgh. Poor guy. I've brought mine in a few weeks back, but now that they are in, I keep forgetting to feed them. Not good.

Not good, but also not that bad unless you keep forgetting all the time. Bettas can go about a week with no food without suffering too much. I skip a day here and there just to make sure they aren't getting constipated, especially after Harvey's problems.

They've been getting fed every other day or so. They are really fat and sassy after their all-day-bug-buffet on the patio, so I'm not too worried. I just have to be sure to fix the feeding habit before they go through their reserves.

I figured out that I had been starving my little goldfishies to death by underfeeding them. Sigh. Before I met Mark, I fed them generously and had a pair that lasted several years, but he convinced me I was overfeeding, so the next several sets of fishies had short and sad lives in my tank.

I'm back to feeding generously and Bennie looks to be in good shape, although he still has to come in from the patio; I have deliberately reduced his food intake as the water temps start to get colder.
