Going through your stuff crazily looking for your wedding dress, sorting most of your belongings in the process, throwing out, recycling or donating roughly half your possessions= Basically no money, but regaining a sense of calm, and a lot more space and tons of cool stuff you forgot you had.

Trying on said wedding dress upon finally finding it, only to discover that YOU are WAY too small for IT to actually fit properly= Priceless.

It always tickles me that people save their wedding dresses. My mom sold hers the next week for movie tickets.

*grin* That's definitely a good thing to have happen.

Hey, what are you doing, um, sometime? (Was about to ask about this week, but I'm booked solid through forever.) Maybe sometime over the weekend? Crafting-time? (I need some solid stitching time - you could come over and we could watch Die Hards and stitch/knit?)

I'm pretty sure mine would be tight now, but I should try that out.

Flylady also points out, pretty correctly, that any money you make on a yard sale is usually not enough to equal the time you spent on the sale. If I had enough good stuff to make a lot of really hot sales quick I might do it, but I so totally don't. Most of what I had was not worth more than the time I would spend putting it out for no one to be interested in it... Why bother. I'd much rather have the karma.

I had my first G-sale ever this summer, and the money (about $100 - and I didn't ask more than $1 for anything - maybe two things, a crib and a playpen for $2 each - there was just a lot of stuff! Mostly baby clothes I'd accumulated for the baby I'll probably never have...and that was the first thing to go) was just a bonus. The MAIN benefit was actually the result of an emptier garage (most stuff sold had accumulated there for too long, not in the house), and the fun of having people come by and watch them take lots of good-for-them stuff for a bargain (so that had the karma element in it, too). As for the time spent, I would have been hanging out at home (cleaning out the garage!) anyway! (Well, at least the first day or two...by Sunday I was sick of it, but that's when I closed anyway. The best part was when these ladies came and cleaned up (they were picking up donations for their church's yard sale) - they even took the junk from the Free pile! The cash went towards cleaning the carpet...so I'd do it again! (but shorter next time!)

OMg no way I HATE you... I was like a size 6-8 when I wore mine and it was my moms she took in for my sister when she was like 14 or something

Oh, don't be too impressed. I was thinner than my heaviest when I got married, but still on the rather big side. So we're talking a step down from somewhere around a size 20 to possibly as low as a 16. I know it used to be TIGHT though, and now it's loose, so it makes me want to try on even smaller sizes to check! :)
