Guilty or not...
Mar. 5th, 2004 03:10 pmOkay, confession time.
I love Martha Stewart. I am not a huge fan, I don't usually like her taste in much of anything, I own very little of anything from her line of home decorating products, but still I feel a soft warm fuzzy place for her in my heart- it might be because she is what she is and also a monumental bitch. My mom is like that and I really admire my mom because she is also a successful uncompromising bitch, even if it's me she's not compromising with...
So yeah, Martha's been found guilty. I am not about to say that I think the law is bad, or that people shouldn't be punished when they do crimes, but PUH-LEASE...
In the face if of the CENTURIES of insider trading that has gone on in the world, I think it's INSANE to try to propose that Martha is somehow the only one who is guilty enough to prosecute in such a thorough manner. She is like a molecule on the drop that plopped into that bucket that's been overflowing since stock was created.
I could go on and on and on about how many levels I am pissed off about this, but it would be a pointless waste of my time since no one gives a shit what I think anyway, and I certainly can't change verdicts. I just think there ought to be a Napster style man hunt of every single rich MAN who ever played golf and maybe had a chat or two that led him to sell some stock...
The world leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Date: 2004-03-05 03:58 pm (UTC)Martha Stewart has been convicted.... her actions made her under $10,000 and didn't really lose other people money (other than the people who bought her stock... so that would be maybe $10000).
Hmmmm....
i wonder if things would have been different if she had a penis.
Mostly Martha
Date: 2004-03-05 08:42 pm (UTC)But I do feel that her prosecution was intended to serve a dual purpose -- to make it look like someone was finally taking down a white collar criminal and use her celebrity status to distract us from all the real bigwigs that they not actually taking down (Cheney, Lay, et al.)
It's conceivable that Lay might eventually get indicted, but it doesn't seem likely given that he hasn't even been mentioned in the latest Enron indictments.
