Betty just peed on the floor, again, second time today. She didn't ask to be let out even once. This is how it starts, soon it will be diaper time...

Anyone know someone who can clone the best dog in the world for free? I don't have the cash.

Is Betty an older dog? I've got three dogs and they drive me batty with their toilet schedules. They were going all over the house for awhile and I was really losing it. Then I started letting them out every hour during the day and restricting their food and water after 10 pm. Once I did that, I began letting them out every two hours, and then down to three. Now I let them out four times a day: in the morning, afternoon, evening and before I go to bed. It's pretty much solved the problem, although they do slip up occassionally. But when that happens, I just blame myself.

I didn't mean to get so long winded!

Ah yes, back story, sorry...

Ah, since I just friended you you wouldn't know the back story, sorry :) Betty is not only older (she's 14 going on 15!) but she was diagnosed as having kidney disease about 7 months ago. I was actually told not to expect her to live as long as she has, but she was still pretty healthy when she was diagnosed and I've had her strictly on special kidney diet food since we found out, and I do think that has helped.

I am home during the day so I let her out at her slightest whim :) other times I push her out for a leak because I think she might not be remembering she needs to. She's a sleepy girl so she gets lazy about going out sometimes :)

I used to try to coordinate the toilet schedules of 6 dogs when I worked at my vets :) THAT was a nightmare since the floors were all carpeted, had long since been peed on by all sorts of dogs, and clients dogs were regularly marking for the sake of marking, so I can sympathize! They were sweet though, so it was all worth it :)

Thank you for the back story!

Before the three dogs, we had an older dog who we adored. As he neared the end of his life, he started having accidents everywhere. It was a miserable time for us. We loved him so much and knowing he was sick was so hard to handle. We weren't ready to let him go. So I can certainly understand how you feel. ((hugs for you and Betty))
