Can anyone tell me what's up with William Shatner? I figured him for one of those older actors who took certain (usually amusing) small jobs because he found it entertaining to do so. With his Star Trek fame, I assumed he'd never be hurting for cash like some folks in the industry, since Star Trek is nigh eternal, and always likely to generate some cash. If he really needed the money, there'd always be some fan related work he could pick up, or even just get some fans with a nice place to take him home and feed him for a while. He should not be hurting for semi-interesting work.

And yet I just saw him, for the second time, pimping a personal injury attorney in Western New York...

Er? uh?! The Priceline ads were funny, so that made sense. This just makes me want to start sending him care packages of food and underwear.

Almost forgot! Happy Belated Birthday [livejournal.com profile] crazypunkgrrl! I wouldn't have missed it except for the massive power outage.

Our neighborhood went out for about 3 hours yesterday, and I discovered that age old truth, that without power to the distraction boxes (TV, PC, DVD, etc.) we are suddenly more productive. We got into doing stuff around the house, took our planned trip to the store a little early, and then I used the extra time when we came back to get more done (even though the power was back). I ended up not touching the box at all last night, except to check my mail once and then shut it off.

This means my front porch thang is now an actual sitting room again, instead of an oubliette of bags of old clothing and unwanted household crap. There were about 70 other tiny things I did, but they're not exciting enough to mention. Either way, it was a damn good day.

Do you cover your intake valve with something? If so, with what, and how did you attach it?

I am starting to suspect D'Argo might be getting caught on theirs, and this might be the source of the continued fin damage. I also saw Crichton get stuck to his for a few moments last night, but he seemed able to free himself without too much trouble. I might cover his up as well, just in case, and also because the flow is still pretty strong even after I modified the modification.

At one point (in D'Argo's tank) I tried using some filter sponge stuff, but that was rather bulky and seemed to cut down on how much crud was getting sucked into the filter. This time I'm pondering either an old nylon, or perhaps some of the needlepoint stuff I used to make the dividers, though I might be better off getting the stuff with the smaller holes if that's what I do. I want to go get new elastic bands, ya know, that haven't been used on food or a newspaper...
