Damned if I haven't had that bloody song in my head for 3 or 4 days now.

You have to watch the Bonjour Monsieur one.

Forget Norway!

I let a nine-year-old watch Kenya, forgetting about the "holy crap" and some other details.

Sure am glad I didn't show her any others, like Bonjour Monsieur.

(come to Kenya we've got lions...)

LOL I let K watch it lots and lots, but of course he can't read. He seems more puzzled by the whole thing than anything else :)

I have decided that crap and ass are just too much part of every day culture that I am not going to bother shielding my child from them at least. I will of course inform him of what's considered "formal" and what's considered "friendly" so he knows that he shouldn't be spouting them endlessly in the presence of people he is trying not to offend. I will of course encourage formal language as we try to use that as much as possible around the house. I might be a little firmer about actual swears only because I think we all need to clean our mouths up a little bit, and if we hold him to rules we may choose to abide by them ourselves.

When I was 9 I knew full well what words were bad and when and where it was okay to use them, you probably didn't do any harm... However, having watched the other thing, yes, it's good you didn't let her watch that...

Yeah, I felt (retrospectively) that I should have been more careful with B's K because I'm not a parent, so it's not as much my choice. But she's a foster child, and I know that she's been exposed to a lot worse... but it also makes the issue more complicated.

I also (was made to) felt guilty about saying "dammit" a couple of times, but yeah, I consider those pretty innocuous.

It's just strange being a sort of step foster parent, especially after years of basically having no contact with kids.

Still... Kenya!

Oh boy howdy- it really gets stuck in there. And it can crawl back in without warning when you least expect it. When J heard I was going to repost it, he said, "You better put a warning with it" and I just laughed because I already had. I've been seeing people with icons of the characters- so apparently we're not alone :)

Of course, not only do I have Kenya Kenya Kenya Kenya in my head, but I now have a case of wanderlust to go BACK to Kenya.

I had to watch it at least three times because "Holy Crap! Lions" made me laugh so hard I couldn't focus.

Maybe I need to watch it again...

I loved that as well- I've seen a few really amusing bus tour company names in my time, so I got a special chuckle about that.
