A must read for moms...
Oct. 22nd, 2004 10:43 amI've been getting down on myself for all my inferiorities as a mom, or trying to embrace them or something- I am changing my position on one thing though... I'm not a BAD parent, I am a slacker parent!
I mentioned the book "Confessions of a Slacker Mom" a bunch of months back, and how
uniquecrash5 had gotten it for me, and how only 50 pages into it I was feeling much better about myself as a mom. Once the living room got rearranged I found it again and have re-read the 50 plus another 50 (putting me almost 2/3 through the book BTW) and I feel even better than I did the last time!
Even if you consider yourself to be SUPER mom, you might want to read this book- it's about taking a step back from the whole motherhood thing, basically picking your battles, and most of all, not beating yourself up if you don't live up to every aspiration you or society has for you as a mother.
And if nothing else, it's a nice brief kick in the head reminder of how motherhood has changed over time, good food for thought, and a very quick read.
