CRAP!

Well I just called the shelter trying to set up returning Buster, and the woman who runs it informed me she is having a nasty wave of distemper run through her cattery...  Buster is vaccinated as are all my guys, so it's really no big deal for us, but he's going to be staying here a few more days to make sure he's going to be safe from the sick ones at the shelter.  I will also be waiting a substantial amount of time before I go adopting another cat from her right away.   She seemed concerned that I would want to try another cat at all, but I explained the fact that it's just the super-stubborn Tom behaviors that really piss Betty off, and that otherwise she is pretty tolerant of cats.  Uhura might not tolerate a female for her own reasons, but I see that as a better idea than a Tom, as Uhura doesn't seem fond of the intimidation factor either.   I told the woman I was fine with it if no one works out since I never complain about shelters getting my money...  I feel a little guilty spending the cash to get a cat anyway, so if it ends up being a straight up donation, so what.

Blast Ikea

My impulse spending would go much better if Ikea would only list things they have in stock...  We went there today and finally returned my mom's crap, but came home with no table.  I did finally allow myself one indulgence I'd been resisting, this cute little rug that will look silly in my bathroom.

I also picked up a few little clearance items, including these funny twisty orange lamps...  We have orange walls, so they work.

But I really wanted this table and I will have to wait an entire month with NO table if this is the table I want, well, unless I want to drive to the US for it, which I don't.

So that means we look for something else... I've become to lazy and busy for shopping anymore, and I'm so damn picky.   I almost let myself walk out with this table because it was on clearance for $59, but it's as painfully small as it looks, little better than a card table, so not a long term solution if we ever plan to have guests ever again.  Right now we have our laps and the couch, and K has a little plastic kids table.  I have plenty of spare doors I could make into a table, if only the dining room would accomodate one :)  My kingdom for a table saw...  bleargh...
